Vintage tools - brace T2513 EB#135:
Up for sale is a gorgeous & early TAYLOR PATENT Hand Brace, with an Iron frame & Spring Lever Chuck Mechanism.
Stamped on the bottom of the chuck with 3 above 3 & a number 2 on the brass screw in the rear pad handle, this is slightly different to others that I've seen & may be unique.
These Taylor braces work extremely well, the simple spring lever chuck really grips the bits well & they have a "direct" feel when drilling with minimal power transfer loss.
This is a very early Brace from the "Genesis time" of American patented Iron framed braces, patented in the 1st half of the 19th century the patent was issued on June 30, 1836.
An extremely handy tool, great for boring large diameter holes & excellent for driving screws in with a slotted tip bit, the leverage you can get with a brace is amazing.
Great for boring large diameter holes, never has a flat battery or need to run a lead out, very handy indeed.
Weight - 900g
