Up for sale is an unusual & very EARLY 1/2inch / 12mm Swan Neck Mortise CHISEL by legendary English edge tool maker ROBERT SORBY.
Used for clearing out the back of blind mortises, very handy, this is a very early chisel by Rob Sorby & features a zigzag bordered name stamp.
Weigh - 860g
Size: 12mm wide blade, 540mm overall.

In authentic vintage condition, wear and tear consistent with age and use, the handle is a replacement, some pitting, Sorby chisels that are this early are quite scarce, it's quite possibly from around the 1830s.
