Vintage tools - brace N1199

Up for sale is an absolute gorgeous antique BEECH & BRASS PLATED bit brace, with a sprung brass chuck with a steel lined socket & a LIGNUM VITAE rear pad handle.

It’s unsigned, but obviously by one of the better makers, Mr T.L.Matthews cared enough about it to engrave his name in beautiful flowing cursive script on the chuck.

CONDITION

This brace is in authentic vintage condition, wear and tear consistent with age and use. 2 x previous owners stamps & engravings. Some minor age checks to the wood, the chuck button works- most folk back in the day filed a notch in their auger bits for positive locking. A beautiful plated brace.
