French antique tools -  adze Y1759

Up for sale is an early & unusual antique FRENCH COOPERS ADZE with a large curved blade & shapely handle. It looks to be a fairly early tool.

This blade is stamped I.S. by the maker in 4 x places around the underside of the handle socket.

The blade is 208mm wide & measures 210mm long along the head, it’s an impressive piece.

Weight - 3.42kg

CONDITION

This adze is in authentic antique condition, a dark patina & wear and tear consistent with age and use. A large age check running through the handle & some old woodworm holes. A gorgeous piece & still pretty sharp. This adze was part of the Longfils tool collection & purchased in France in 2019.
