Vintage tools - plane B30

Up for sale is a very cool vintage CARTER Australia No:4 & 1/2 wide bodied smoothing plane with shapely rear handle.

This one is proudly made in Australia with a 60mm cutter & Australian coachwood handles.

Produced from 1945-55 only & according to “Australian Woodworking Planemakers” by T.Semmens, the beds of the planes were painted with whatever paint was available from the local hardware store. Also mentioned in the book is that Carter plane irons were cut from sheets of Swedish Tool Steel.

CONDITION

This plane is in authentic vintage condition, near full blade, some dents & dings to the body, check out that shapely rear handle. A fantastic survivor from Australia's post WW2 tool manufacturing industry.
