Up for sale is a gorgeous vintage STANLEY GAGE USA No. G5 SELF SETTING PLANE with beautiful Rosewood handles & U.S.PAT 2-17-20 cast into the base.

A clever design- the blade & chipbreaker are not fixed together. The chipbreaker is attached to the lever cap & is adjustable. The beauty of this design is that once the chipbreaker is set to your desired clearance, one can remove the blade for sharpening & reinstate it into the plane & when you screw the lever cap in the chipbreaker is already set at your desired clearance.

CONDITION

This plane is in authentic vintage condition, wear and tear consistent with age & use, the rosewood handles are just stunning, minimal japanning loss & some plating loss with a tiny crack at the top of the LH cheek that doesn’t affect use & minor dents to the heel. This plane has some light scratching to the sole. It is a beautiful & easy to adjust plane.
