Vintage tools -  infill plane H1735

Up for sale is a stunning & unique antique CAST IRON INFILL plane with an incredible and highly figured TASMANIAN BLACKWOOD INFILL.

Full crinkly fiddleback figure through the front infill, knob, wedge & rear infill & handle. Possibly made around the 1860-70s by some artisan who had seen the new Stanley planes & tried to emulate their style & appearance in an infill casting & created this masterpiece.

Size: 435mm x 70mm with a 62mm cutter.

CONDITION

This plane is in authentic vintage condition, wear and tear consistent with age & use. The front knob has a horizontal crack through midway but it’s solid as the retaining bolt holds it together. A replacement wedge & a historical repair to the top horn. A couple of light hairline cracks to the body that were probably there from when the casting cooled & a flea bite chip to the mouth. Sharp enough to use, it’s a glorious locally made infill plane with uber crinkly fiddleback Blackwood throughout.
