Vintage tools - axe D506
Up for sale is an early & unusual antique FRENCH CLOG MAKERS SIDE AXE, with a unique BULBOUS handle that acts as a counterweight for the head, a feature that makes using such an axe less fatiguing for repetitive cuts.
Size - The cutting edge is 210mm wide & the axe / hatchet measures 460mm long overall, it's an impressive piece.
Weight - 1.8kg
CONDITION
This axe is in authentic antique condition, a dark patina & some pitting as to be expected with an early tool. The handle has a large check right through it under the head & someone has varnished the bulbous part of the handle at some stage- probably worth stripping it off carefully. A gorgeous & hard to find sabotiers hatchet.
