French antique tools -  adze Y1748

Up for sale is an early & unusual antique FRENCH COOPERS ADZE.

This blade is triple stamped with an early embossed makers mark "J.MB” in a dashed border.

The blade is 140mm wide & measures 260mm long along the head, its an impressive piece.

Weight -   1.6kg

CONDITION

This adze is in authentic antique condition, a dark patina & some pitting as to be expected with a possible 18th century tool. A large age check running through the handle, however the handle is original. This adze was part of the Longfils tool collection & purchased in France in 2019.
