Vintage tools -  infill plane N641

Up for sale is a scarce antique DOVETAILED steel INFILL SMOOTHING PLANE with a gorgeous  ROSEWOOD INFILL & parallel sides by BUCK of 245 Tottenham Court Rd, LONDON.

Probably an early NORRIS made plane, relatively early due to screws in the sides & a different Saracen hat knob to the usual. Someone along the life of this plane has added a rear handle. This little smoother would restore very well & it can be used as is with a sharpen.

These really are the luxury yacht of the planing world, with an extra thick laminated steel cutter & the finest mouth, plus with the steel cutter bedded against the rosewood infill, they never chatter.

Size: 190mm x 67mm with a 57mm cutter.

CONDITION

This plane is in authentic vintage condition, wear and tear consistent with age & use, the mouth is relatively tight, a short W&P cutter. The custom handle added by a previous owner is solid, however it would be nice if it were replaced in matching rosewood.  It’s a lovely plane for the workshop & a handy size.
