ITEM DESCRIPTION

Vintage tools - brace T2487 EB#152:

Up for sale is a rare & EARLY Craftsman Made COOPERS BRACE Bitstock Spoon Bit HAND BRACE, with an amazing oversized rear Fruitwood pad handle.

This looks to be a very early English tool, fashioned out of beech, the hand forged spoon bit is kept in place with a very early style removable tapered rudimentary Iron jaws- it takes the early flat tanged 18th century drill bits.

Spoon bits can drill at nearly any angle, plus there is no lead spur to break through when drilling say chair spindle sockets.

Weight - 640g

CONDITION

This brace is in authentic vintage condition, wear and tear consistent with age and use, an owners mark that reads "BLIGH WHITECHAPEL" in an early font, the colour of the wood is SUPERB, it's a gorgeous & early piece, some chips to the base of the oversized rear pad handle, an authentic example of an 18th Century coopers brace.

Please check the photos as they are part of the description.
