ITEM DESCRIPTION

Hand Forged Hammer 

Up for sale is are some absolutely stunning BLACKSMITH made DOG HEAD Hammers, hand forged out of 1045 carbon steel, with a ground eye & a fully heat treated & annealed head - that means it’s hard where you want it to be (on the faces) but softer & ductile where you want it to be (around the eye).

The heavier hammers are good for general forging etc & the medium weight & smaller dog head hammers are perfect for saw smithing & blade smith work. The rounding hammers are going for shaping softer metals- brass, copper & silver. 

These larger dog head hammers weigh between 580g to 610g including the handle.

Handles made from Vic Ash with a Shou Sugi Ban / Yakki Sugi scorched finish, and a hand forged retaining wedge.

6 x 580g to 610g dog heads x 330mm to 300mm long, heads between 70mm to 73mm long, with a 30mm x 30mm hexagonal head.
