Up for sale is a brand new FRENCH OPINEL CARBON STEEL folding pocket KNIFE with a VARNISHED beech wood handle, an Opinel Number 7 model. 

Carbon steel is extremely hard, guaranteeing excellent cutting quality, good wear resistance and easy regrinding. Virobloc locking ring which keeps the blade locked shut during transport and securely opened while in use

Made in France since 1890.

Size: 178mm long when fully opened, a 78mm blade & 100mm long when folded closed.

“The Opinel company has manufactured and marketed a line of eponymous wooden-handled knives since 1890 from its headquarters in Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, Savoie, France where the family-run company also operates a museum dedicated to its knives. The company sells approximately 15 million knives annually. Opinel knives are made of both high carbon and stainless steel, the latter being Sandvik steel from Sweden. 

Pablo Picasso is said to have used one of the company's knives as a sculpting tool. 

In 1985 the Victoria and Albert Museum in London selected the Opinel knife as part of an exhibit celebrating the “100 most beautiful products in the world”, featuring the Opinel alongside the Porsche 911  sports car and the Rolex watch. ” Wikipedia 

CONDITION

These knives are new in unused condition, they are very SHARP! There will be subtle variations in the handle grain & colour due to timber being a natural product. An iconic design & still proudly made in France.
