Vintage tools -  plane PL71

Up for sale is an ultra rare STANLEY USA No.9 CABINET MAKERS BLOCK PLANE, also known as the Piano Makers Plane.

Superb for mitres & end grain work, with an adjustable throat & a low blade bedding angle. With its removable & movable “Hot Dog” handle & shapely rear rosewood knob handle, it makes for an efficient chute / shooting plane on either side.

A Stanley Miter Plane. 

Size: 247mm long x 58mm wide with a 51mm wide blade.

CONDITION

This plane is in authentic vintage condition, wear and tear consistent with age and use. Some scattered light pitting. Its a good example- no cracks or chips to the mouth & the mouth has not been enlarged. All parts are correct for this unique plane- lever cap, blade & plate, hot dog handle, tail assembly & adjuster, throat plate & screws. Some scratches & pitting spots to the sole. Will require sharpening prior to use, once sharp one can plane just about anything with this plane. A plane for the serious woodworker or collector.
