This vintage STANLEY No.5 1/2 Jack PLANE, made in England, this one comes with a bit of a back story.

Vintage Tool Shop BUYS lots of tools from many different vendors & you never know what might walk through the door….

Sometimes we get tools that have a bit of a BACKSTORY & in amongst this amazing collection of STANLEY PLANES purchased from SCOTT in Sydney was a fairly ordinary looking STANLEY England No:5 1/2 PLANE.  It has an incorrect front knob & a handmade rear handle & an Australian cutter.

It used to be owned by a Mr. GEORGE COATES, Scotts mentor, who was a ships carpenter & an exceptional tradesman at GARDEN ISLAND Navy Base in SYDNEY. The amazing thing about this plane is the tag that Mr Coates attached to his plane documenting its travels!

This plane is in authentic vintage condition, wear and tear consistent with age & use.
A good user, the blade is sharp enough to use as it is.
