Vintage tools - infill plane T3571
Up for sale is an antique INFILL SMOOTHING PLANE with a ROSEWOOD INFILL & with a CAST IRON BODY, with a snecked cutter by W.MARPLES.
Made by LONDON PLANEMAKER HENRY SLATER CLERKENWELL, the body is also stamped M by the strike button probably for malleable iron.
Weight - 2.1kg
Size: 7 & 1/2" x 2 & 5/8"" or 192mm x 66mm with a 2 & 1/4" or 56mm cutter.
This plane is in authentic vintage condition, wear and tear consistent with age & use, the front bun is slightly loose & also has a crack to the RH side & some gouge marks to the front where it looks like someone has removed an owners mark, the usual marks, dings & scratches to the body & base but the bottom edges are nice & sharp- the strike button has saved the heel of the plane from most of the abuse, the mouth is nice & tight, it’s a lovely plane for the workshop & a handy size.
