SOLD T9103 Vintage SHEAR STEEL with STAG handle kitchen Carving KNIFE

Vintage tools -  knife T9103

Up for sale is an extra LARGE vintage CARBON STEEL Carving KNIFE, this one is a little different from the usual - the blade is stamped SHEAR.STEEL in serifed old font, that indicates that this knife is pre-1830s manufacture- think about that, 193 years old or older.

Also, Shear Steel was the absolute 2nd highest grade of steel in cutlery manufacturing due to its superior wear resistance- surpassed only by Double Shear Steel. Strong rat tail tang construction with a genuine stag handle.
A knife of this size & construction from the 1830s would have been way way out of reach for the common folk, this would have come from a house of some substance!

It has a huge 300mm long blade x 33mm tapering across the blade width, 435mm overall

CONDITION

This knife is in authentic vintage condition, wear & tear consistent with age & use, will require a sharpen prior to use. A slight curve to the blade & missing its handle end cap, light rust marks, extremely rare to find a near 200 year old knife in such good condition & out of shear steel also.
