Vintage tools - tape H2472
Up for sale is an unusual CHESTERMAN ENGLAND 25ft plummet & dipping TAPE, proudly made in SHEFFIELD England, note that this dipping tape has a War Department broad arrow stamped on the arm.
Used to measure the depth of liquids in barrels, storage tanks, and wells. The weighted end (plumb) would sink to the bottom, while the tape was read at the liquid line.
John Rabone & Sons, based in Birmingham, England, supplied precision measuring tools to the British Armed Forces and allied agencies before merging with James Chesterman & Co. in 1963 to become Rabone Chesterman.

This tape is in authentic vintage condition, wear and tear consistent with age & use.
